Claire's previous work centered around collecting and transforming the mundane leftovers produced often indirectly by people in their environments. Boarded doors and abandoned buildings were the subject of illogical installations that avoid any direct explanation of the situations that produce them. After moving from Richmond, Virginia with a bachelors of fine arts and a bachelors of interdisciplinary studies from Virginia Commonwealth University, California's land and Californian's relationship to this land has become a primary interest to her. Now her work has begun to piece apart the characters of this epic western and reassign them to other forms and materials. Plastic oil containers weave to become a turbulent waterway while table legs harboring decayed animal parts are lost on their way to dinner and attempt to support a failing ecology.
