Dolissa Medina






Dolissa Medina is an experimental filmmaker. Screening highlights include International Film Festival Rotterdam, Oberhausen (Germany), and the San Francisco International Film Festival. Her work has also exhibited at Palacio Bellas Artes in Mexico City, the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, Exit Art Gallery in New York, San Francisco's Galeria de la Raza, the Oakland Museum of California, and at site-specific outdoor venues such as the side of fire station for San Francisco's 1906 Earthquake Centennial. Medina has received grants from the San Francisco Arts Commission, the Bay Area Video Coalition, LEF Foundation, the Pacific Pioneer Fund, and the Film Arts Foundation. She has lectured at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, UC-Davis, University of San Francisco, and San Francisco State University, and has been a guest speaker at the Commonwealth Club of California. She has also served as a curator, film journalist, festival publicist, and filmmaker mentor. Medina studied journalism and history at San Francisco State. Previously based in the Bay Area, she is originally from South Texas.
