Glenna Jennings

Cheerleaders, Parliament Cigarettes, Toy Guns, Trash Dumps and Mexican Hotel Rooms are just some of the 'stuff of narrative' in Glenna Jennings' new work. Her photographic series "At Table" and "Raskolnikov" create a dialogue between our perceptions of alienation and celebration within varying domestic environments. Jennings works in genres of photography that skirt the boundaries implied by terms like 'documentary' and 'constructed narrative': her point being to both question and keep alive the seriously whimsical and whimsically serious practice of image making in an image-saturated world.

Both an artist and arts educator, Jennings has exhibited her work throughout the U.S and Europe. She collaborated closely with other artists from Art Center College of Design in the formation of the Geneva based collective compact/space, for which she still serves as US director. Her series "dinner.party.pistol." from the solo show Inheritance was most recently shown at the Aqua Art Fair in Miami and Seminal Projects in San Diego, and will be featured in the upcoming LA ArtSeen exhibit and auction to benefit AIDS research . She is currently working on her first group of short stories about women and guns, while also collaborating with other photographers and artists in Mexico and Serbia.
