4x4 Interchange Topographies: Cardboard Construct - 6’x1.5’x12’

The ‘Interchange Constructions’ are specific [body] creature instruments modeled to confront and domesticate the vast sublimity of such limitless possible configurations existing in the space of data.

The four geographic regions of Los Angeles (110x101 - 405x90 - 101x105 - 605x5) are treated as nodal attractors. It is assumed that all existing landforms fluctuate, bubble, and eventually convert into shards of vectors that create swarms of flows seeking the nodal point of interchange. Pieces of the city reform as volumes dependant upon direction within the network.

MapCrunch - Java, J3D, CG, Cross-Platform- [Collaboration with Kael Greco]

The MapCrunch application(s) were developed in tandem with the 4x4 Interchange Topographies. The goal was to develop a tool to process spatial data as a networked, relational assemblage and represent it as a reconfiguration of the landform from which it is based.

This software was designed to visualize these socio-land use relations as gravitational depressions [degradations] in the urban environment. The topologies of these urban centers are continuously split and reconfigured in an effort to express the city as a malleable space of social connections.
