My work exists somewhere between experimental filmmaking and an investigation of the obscure musical artifact of the jew's harp, its origin, wandering and countless iterations throughout the world. A banisher of thought is one of the many names it has been baptized through its elemental wandering, from wood to bone, bronze, iron and silver. Its history is mysterious, and in kind fashion I am interested in the latent capacity of film, particularly the texture of the hand processed super 8 and 16mm image, to project one out into a poetic landscape beyond the known. In so doing a potential exists to extrapolate and co-author narratives embedded with the logic and musk of this fertile soil. Retroactively these may further serve as maps, milestones and chaotic artifacts for dialogue with and exploration into the hinterland.
If the material wants it.
